Delete your account and data

Last updated: November 4, 2026

This page explains how to delete your account and data in What Would Elalem Say? (Elalem Ne Der?), developed by teammadeit.

Delete your account in the app

  1. Open What Would Elalem Say?
  2. On the Profile tab, tap the gear at the top right to open Settings.
  3. Tap Delete Account at the bottom and confirm.

If you can't access the app, email hello@elalem.lol with the subject “Account deletion” from the email address linked to your account. Once we've verified it's you, we delete your account within 30 days.

What is deleted

When you delete your account, the following is deleted immediately: your profile (nickname and real name, if any), your account ID and email address, your questions and photos, votes, comments, blocks, notification preferences, notification records and your device's notification token. Removal from backups takes up to 30 days.

What is kept, and for how long

Only records we're legally required to keep (such as records under Turkish Law No. 5651) are kept, for the period the law requires, and deleted at the end of it.

Delete data without deleting your account

  • A question: on My Questions, open the question's ⋮ menu and tap Delete. The question is deleted together with its photo, options, votes and comments.
  • A comment: open your comment's ⋮ menu and tap Delete.
  • Your real name: clear the real name field in Settings → Account.
  • Notifications: turn them off in Settings → Notifications; signing out deletes your device's notification token.

To have any other data deleted, write to hello@elalem.lol; we reply within 30 days. See the Privacy Policy for details.
